I've broken down my pack items into 'kits' that vacuum pack with my FoodSaver. I have my gutting supplies such as latex gloves and knives sealed in a 'kit', which elimnates any rattling around and keeps the knives rust free. I also have a 'kit' that consists of military wind and waterproof matches, a trioxane fuel bar, a chemical light stick, and a space blanket. Everything stays dry and quiet, plus it's easy to find what you need or move stuff between packs. I write the date packed on the 'kit' with a Sharpie so I know how long the stuff has been around and when it's time to refresh.
