Most of today's synthetic rifle stocks have a hollow sound when bumped. Use this characteristic to your advantage when hunting. Tap on the stock with your pocket knife, mimicking the sound of rattling antlers. Scraping the stock with a raking motion, then twisting the knife on the stock will imitate the grinding sound of locked antlers. If you use the plastic handle part of your knife, you won't mar the finish on your rifle. Surprisingly, the sounds are very realistic and do work.
This tip was submitted by Ed Carey of Oldtown, Idaho, who last deer season rattled up five separate deer in less than ten minutes on opening day! Give it a try!
